Are you (also) a struggler?

"She was only allowed to run for 12 minutes. At a very slow pace and really a maximum of 12 minutes, including warm-up and cool-down. Well, only if it felt really good, then of course it wasn't forbidden to run longer. That was the agreement we had made beforehand. And always in a cool outfit and with her favorite playlist. Of course.

'Who are you kidding'?

You want something, but then again you don't. Or vice versa. Eating healthier more often, less or no alcohol, saying no more often and choosing yourself, going to bed on time, moving more. But it feels contradictory and difficult. Because you do want it, but not really. Because you don't do it (always).

I want to, but...

Resisting is clear. You don't want something and you don't see the point of it, so you resist, with or without success. Going along is a different story. You behave as if you are going to make the right choices, but when it comes down to it, you sabotage (consciously or unconsciously) things. And by doing so, you also avoid taking concrete steps to do things that are good for you. Recognizable?

Messing around is allowed

Making mistakes is also allowed, in fact, it's part of it. Just like resistance. Because there is no 'one size fits all' method to take care of yourself. But finding your unique practical way in what works for you. Like imposing a playful 'restriction', seeking out the challenge or having a motivator. Being open to inspiration helps with that. In short, by consciously finding out (and then doing) what works for you.

Those who resist end up...

Those 12 minutes of running turned into a steady 45 minutes twice a week, without too much effort and with a rewarding and satisfied feeling. Resisters can be convinced in the end, provided you are willing to (playfully) search for what really works for you so that you can overcome that resistance and leave the resisting behind.
